DepEd GenSan holds DSPC

MANY student writers together with their school paper advisers coming from schools in different districts in the division of General Santos City gather once again at Dadiangas South Central Elementary School to compete in the Divisions School Press Conference (DSPC) with a theme “Fostering 21st Century Skills & Character-based Education through campus Journalism”  on October 17, 2018.

The event will be held for three days and in the first day, individual events like News writing, Feature writing, Editorial writing, Copy reading, Photo Science and Technology writing, and Sports writing were held while team events like radio broadcasting, collaborative writing, and online publishing were conducted on the second day and lastly the awarding ceremony and in the last day.

A mini press conference was held during the second day that tackles about Fake News and it was led by the guest speaker, Jay Dayupay who was a newscaster from ABS-CBN in SOCCKSARGEN.

“As journalists we have the power to influence or viewers,” Mr. Dayupay said in his speech where he emphasized the importance of a correct, verified and truth information.
